He missed the US Open in September, though, since he remained in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. "The way I was performing coming up to the U.S. Open made watching it at home all week particularly unpleasant", he admitted.

"I thought I had a strong chance of winning, but that's just how the world works.  I had plenty of time to think about the year and to absorb at home. I thought my rookie season was pretty strong.  Although I would have preferred a victory last year, I believe it is imminent. I believe I'm on the verge of succeeding." Scottie Scheffler 2020

Scheffler was unquestionably one of the best players in the world going into 2022, but victory was proving elusive.

He had a third round of 62 at the WM Phoenix Open to enter the play-off with Patrick Cantlay, and he eventually won in extra holes after finishing with a final round score of 67.

After three weeks, Scheffler resumed his onslaught. A third round 67 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in challenging conditions put him back in contention, and a level-par 72 on Sunday was sufficient to secure a second victory.

After another three weeks had passed, he improved upon his performance from 2021 and won the WGC-Dell Match Play. He rose to the top of the world rankings as a result of his three victories.

He didn't, however, stop there. He instantly became one of the favorites at the year's first Major, and he competed as such to win the Masters.

His opening rounds of 69-67 gave him a five stroke lead overall, and for the course of the weekend, he hardly ever seemed to be about to give it up. Even though he missed two short putts on the last green, he still prevailed by three.

Scheffler stated, "I have fantasized about being here and competing. The first time I genuinely considered winning was on Friday. In a way, I'm glad I botched the last one since it has let me talk today with a bit less emotion."

Scottie Scheffler Personal Life

In his early years, Scheffler played a lot of basketball and still enjoys playing table tennis, but he ultimately decided that golf would be his preferred sport to pursue a career in.
